Fill 'Er Up Saturday? Doesn't Sound as Good.. But Oh Well

I know that this was a feature I started doing on Fridays... but with the holidays, I kind of lost track of it.  Saturdays are designated for BYOC, but Drazil has been working on her own thing - and so I've got to come up with something to write about today.

Before I begin, you have to check out Drazil's version of 'Twas the Night Before Christmas that she came up with yesterday.  I'll warn you in advance:  Do NOT read while consuming hot liquids...you will end up spitting them out and burning yourself and your computer in the process.

With all of the holiday cheer that I've been spreading, I haven't really spoken a whole lot about what's going on with me.  The me outside of preparing for Christmas and being wrapped up in Christmas spirit.  So, that's what I'm going to give you today.  You have to be interested, right?  Well, then you're welcome...

It's currently day 6 of Jelly having Chicken Pox.  Despite being covered in head to toe with nasty, itchy spots, Jelly is taking the whole thing very well.  Hubby has stayed home with her every day, and they've been having a blast playing video games and destroying my house.  This morning, it appears that most of the spots have scabbed over - which means that she's on her way to no longer being contagious.  That's what I was told...and that's what I'm hoping.  She's not scratching anymore, so that's a plus.

When I got home from work, yesterday, I started feeling cruddy.  Not sure why.  I'd been fine all day at work - but all of sudden, I got hit with a stuffy nose, sore throat, and a headache from Hades.  Unfortunately, today I still have it all.  Blah!

Even though I said I wasn't really going to talk about my weight all month, I am happy to report that I've somehow lost 3lbs in the past week.  I know, I'm as shocked as you are.  I decided to stand on the scale this morning - just to get an update on the damage.  I couldn't believe it when I saw the scale was down 3lbs from what it was last weekend.  Apparently not talking about my weight loss has led to weight loss...let's hope that I'm not jinxing myself.

I have been a crocheting fool for the past couple of weeks.  I've found a new project that I've been trying out:  Making house shoes that look like snow boots.  My first pair weren't exactly anything to brag about, and unfortunately I made them as a birthday present for a friend's daughter.  She was super polite and told me she loved them - although I wasn't thrilled with how they turned out.  I'm now working on my second pair - for Jelly - so that I can work out the kinks.  I've also got a list of scarves and fingerless gloves that I have to knock out by Christmas...cause I'm giving them away as gifts.

I truly think that my current crocheting frenzy has had a direct result on my weight loss.  I know that sounds stupid - but hear me out.  Because I've spent every evening crocheting, I haven't been mindlessly looking through the kitchen cabinets for things to eat.  I haven't even been drinking much flavored coffee, either.  I needed something that would keep my mind off of pointless eating, and crocheting seems to be the fix I needed.

Being that I feel like total dog dodo today, I'm going to spend the entire day curled up on the couch crocheting and watching Christmas movies.  If Hubby has a problem with it, then I may have to move to the bedroom.  Which doesn't bother me one bit.  I have absolutely no problem spending the entire day in bed if I have to.  Hey!  I'm sick...don't judge!

I truly believe that I have one of the greatest men in the world living right here in my house.  Seriously.  He's spent his entire week off doting around after a demanding four year old, happily.  He's woken up at 6am every day, even after going to bed late because his body is still in work mode, happily.  He's cooked dinner every night, happily.  He planned all of this week's meals and is going out to do all of the grocery shopping today, happily.  OK, the last one is probably because he has major cabin fever and wants nothing more than a couple of hours outside of the house alone.... but it's saving me the trouble of having to do it.  On top of all that, he's even agreed to make 84 brownies for my work's cookie exchange that I'm doing this week.  I'm not sure how I managed to be lucky enough to score such an amazing Hubby... but I'm so glad I did.

Lastly, I'm down to only having 5 work days left until my winter break begins.  I'm super excited...and can't wait!  This week, I'm participating in Secret Santa, doing a cookie exchange, and attending several classroom Christmas parties.  Be forewarned, I'll be blogging about all of it.  I'll be kicking off my Twelve Days of Christmas theme this week.  I still have no idea how I'm going to do it... but I'll figure it out by Tuesday, when the 12 day countdown starts.

Alright, I'm off to the couch.  I have crocheting to do...and resting.  I have to get over this crud by Monday - cause I'm not missing work this week no way no how

Have a wonderful Saturday!!

Till next time. ;)

Time to Get a Fill Up....

Are you as excited as I am that it's Friday?  Are ya?  Are ya?

If you haven't figured it out - I'm SUPER excited.  Not because it's the end of the week, or because the weekend is almost here, or because it's now less than a week away from Thanksgiving.  Nope.  It's because tomorrow, I'm getting a full day all to myself to go out Christmas shopping.  And Christmas shopping is my most favorite thing to do.

Even if I'd like nothing more than to spend the next twenty minutes telling you every single reason as to why a day out shopping is going to be so wonderful....I'm a woman of structure and routine.  Which means, I must do my weekly installment of Fill 'Er Up Friday.

I wonder what random nonsense I can pull out of my head this week....

First and foremost...a word of caution to all.  Be careful who you talk to about everything...especially children.  Yep...this happened to me.  I wasn't the one talking - I got to be the one on the receiving end of it...and it's NOT fun.  Long story short.  A woman I don't know very well thought it would be a great idea to say some not very nice things about Butter and a friend of his....without realizing that I'm Butter's mom.  Whoopsy.  Don't worry, there was no nasty retaliation words involved.  I was professional - and made sure I outed her right there on the spot and told her that Butter was my son.  The look on her face hopefully meant she learned her lesson.

Staying with that topic.  If you don't know a child - their background or their living situation - don't make nasty or mean assumptions about who they are or how you think they're going to act.  Sometimes you just have no idea what they've been through or how they live.  Take a second to feel a little compassion - before proceeding to bash them.  They're kids for crying out loud!!!

OK, that made me feel a little better.

It's Book Fair week at my school this week.  That means one thing for me - Trouble!!  I'm a book addict collector, especially children's books.  I came home, yesterday, with quite the bag full of books.  I just can't help myself.  I keep telling myself that eventually, I will read every book in my library.  I also keep telling myself that doing that is going to take forever.  I have so many books.

For some reason, I have had absolutely no desire to watch Biggest Loser this season.  I've been DVR'ing it - so I now have about 10 episodes to catch up on....and I just can't get the motivation to want to watch it.  I'm not sure if it's because Jillian is gone, and so I feel like it's not going to be so good, or if it's because I know that if I start watching it - I will feel bad about being so blah with my own weight loss.  Maybe if I started watching it, it would motivate me to really get going again.  I don't know.

Holy cow, my head just won't get out of shopping excitement mode.  Usually, I can pull so much random stuff out of my head, it's not even funny.  Now?  I'm sitting here completely lost wondering what the heck to write about.

Twilight Breaking Dawn released last night....and I'm super jealous for those that got to see it at the midnight showing.  I swear, if one person spoils anything for me before I can get to the movies next weekend to see it - I'll drop kick them.  Yes, I've read the books...I know what the movie is going to be about... but I don't want to know anything about the movie until I've got to see it.  This is the movie I've been looking forward to more than any of the others.  Seriously - drop kick!!

Hubby burned a fire in the fire place night before last.  It was 40 degrees outside...and I came home to the fire burning and a big pot of beef stew cooking in the slow cooker.  Seriously, could I have a more perfect man?  Sitting on the couch eating a bowl of stew, watching TV, while the fire is crackling is seriously the most perfect evening in the whole world.  It will be even better when I throw in the twinkling of the Christmas tree lights...next week!!

I'm thinking about cooking my Thanksgiving turkey in a crock pot next week.  Is that weird?  Usually, Hubby cooks the turkey on the grill - but recently, he's been cooking whole chickens in the crock pot and they are super yummy.  I'm thinking the turkey would be just as yummy.  And it will be so much easier to do.  I'm pondering it.

I still don't care if Justin Bieber fathered a child with a random woman at one of his concerts last year - but I will say, the more I hear about the woman...the more I think there's something seriously wrong with her.  I just don't get how people can get so fascinated with a person - celebrity or not - and try to pull off something like getting pregnant by them.  I'm totally in love with Alexandar Skasgard... but you don't see me trying to say that he fathered one of my children....although, Butter does have some very similar features.... like blonde hair.  Hmmmm

Alright...my mind just isn't cooperating very well. This is just the best that I can do today.  Tomorrow, I get to leave the kids at home, get in my car, and let the world be my oyster.....well the stores be my oyster.  I'll on the hunt for some great bargains.  I'm going out without a plan or a list....that's a little scary in it's self.  But that just means that I'm going to have to look - and figure out what to get my kids for Christmas.  That's the fun of it, though.  I tried getting them to come up with a list - but unless I plan on buying a real goat, and adding two cell phones to my current plan...I'm on my own.  And, no, there will be no goats or cell phones.  Just not going to happen.  I'm sure I can find a few things that they will love.

TGIF - Everyone have a good one!!

Till next time.  ;)

Fill 'Er Up Friday

Friday, again.  I'm sure you already know that...I mean, who doesn't keep track of it being Friday?

On Fridays, I celebrate the end of the week, look forward to the coming weekend, and fill up my blog post with a bunch of random crap that my head is full of.  Some weeks, there's more bang for your buck...just like the cost of gas.  Other weeks, you get royally screwed because I don't really have much to say and you get way less than you bargained for...just like the price of gas.

To all the mothers of tweens out there.  Has your tween started the mood swings yet?  Holy mother of hormones.  My Peanut has been driving me nutso with her mood swings.  Some days she's a carefree, cheerful, normal self....other days, I swear there may be small horns appearing from her head.  She completely shuts down, doesn't talk to anyone, gives evil looks to anyone that makes eye contact, and huffs and puffs around the house like the big, bad wolf.  I don't ever remember being this moody when I was her age....ever, in fact.  Cross my heart.

I received the Wal-Mart Black Friday flyer yesterday.  I was kinda looking forward to it, cause I was kinda thinking that this year I may be completely off my rocker and attempt to snag a few bargains while trying to not get killed.by people and their death carts.  Well folks, you don't have to worry.  I've never seen such a more useless Black Friday ad.  The best deals in the whole thing are cheap movies....and I'm NOT going to get my ankles broken for a few movies.  No thank you.  Wal-Mart is doing 3 sales...one that starts at 10pm Thanksgiving night, another that starts at midnight, and another that starts at 8am on Black Friday.  None of them are worth my time.  So, I will live for another year.

Speaking of movies....Disney made me an offer I just couldn't refuse, yesterday.  I've been a member of the Disney Movie Club for a few years now...I fulfilled my obligation with them sometime last year...and I guess they got tired of me not buying anymore movies.  So, yesterday, they sent me an offer to renew my membership.  I would have said NO WAY...but the offer was to pick 5 movies for $1 TOTAL...and get another one for $10.  Now, I only have to buy 3 more movies in the next 2 years.  That means I bought 5 movies (Christmas presents) for 20 cents a piece.... you can't beat that, my friends.  Even Wal-Mart can't match that price.  They're not old movies I got either...all but one were released this year.  I can't say more than that... but I got a great deal.

I'm going out tonight for a much needed, well overdue Girls' Night Out.  I just realized that it's been close to two months since I've seen Sanity.  Can you believe it?  My Sanity has been gone for almost two months!!  Sanity, Hope, and I are all hitting the town to let our hair down and catch up on what our life has thrown at us.  Going out with my closest friends is something I NEVER want to let go of...even if it is just once every couple of months.  We met in college, but I want us to be out celebrating our grandkids graduating college..together.  I can see it now - three 80 something women out at a bar laughing, crying, and remembering the "Good Old Days".

Thinking about sitting in a bar when I'm 80 just made me realize that I have only 6 1/2 years until Peanut graduates high school.  Jesus, Mary, and WAA!!  One thing I continue to remind myself is that I will only be 36 when she graduates high school, which means I could very well be a grandmother by the time I'm 40...which is only ten years away.  So, maybe it won't be a bunch of 80 year old women....I might only be in my 60's!!  OK, slowing down....too much for my head to handle right now.

This weekend, I'm actually looking forward to giving my house another deep clean.  Carpets are gonna be scrubbed, cobwebs are going to be sucked up with the vacuum.  Yes, I said cobwebs.  I know that sounds groody...and it is... but my house seems to have cobwebs that grow like hair.  The more I clean them, the more that appears a few weeks later.  I'm also going to try steam cleaning my couch.  Jelly has definitely left her mark on my beloved old couch...and it's definitely seen better days.  But, because I can't afford a new one anytime soon - I'm going to see if I can bring back some life in the old thing with a good steam clean.  Everyone pray that doesn't just fall apart....that would NOT be good when trying to host a Thanksgiving dinner with a bazillion people in attendance.

I'm so excited that there is now less than two weeks to Thanksgiving, which means there's only two weeks until it's time to put up the Christmas tree...and two weeks until I can start driving my kids nuts with Christmas music.  Yep, I'm one of those people.  From the day after Thanksgiving until Christmas day, the only music that will come from my car, iPhone, or anywhere I else I play music from will be Christmas music.  My kids love it for the first two days - then they whine for the rest of the time.  Except Jelly - who has already started singing Jingle Bells every morning in the car.  She can't wait....so it will be nice to have at least one kid who shares my love of the holiday season.

I'm so excited that I get two weeks off for Christmas - one being a full week before Christmas.  I've never had that long to prepare before...and it will be awesome!!  Except for the fact that my kids will be home with me - so not sure how much preparation I can do with them hanging around.

OK, seriously.  Can you get the vibe that I'm super stoked for Christmas?  Most of my random crap has made some reference to Christmas or gifts.  That's what my head is full of, I guess.  I'm happy about it, though...cause a month ago I was worried about Christmas.  Now I'm not.  I know that I'm going to be able to give my kids a good Christmas...just like always.  With some magic financial wrangling, selling off some crap on Craigslist, and having some extra funds fall into my lap - I'll be able to pull it off.  Still a much smaller scale than years before - but my kids will get the couple of things that they want.  Christmas in my house will be magical....just like always.

Alright..time to head off to get ready for work.  I have to take a second and say THANK YOU to all of the Veteran's out there.  I'm not sure if I have any that read my blog.... but you never know, right?  I do know that I have some readers that have Veteran family members.

Everyone take a second today to thank a Veteran.  Maybe it's someone at work, maybe it's someone you see somewhere else....just tell them that they are appreciated.

Till next time. ;)

Ready for Some Friday Fuel? It's Fill 'Er Up Friday!

It's Friday...once again.  Is it just me or are the days flying by faster than Roadrunner on crack?  It feels like I sat down here a couple of hours ago and typed the words "It's Friday".

It is Friday...which means it IS time for Fill 'Er Up Friday...my newish weekly thing I'm doing where I basically combine all of the random thoughts running through my head in to one colorful post.  I think I've done pretty well this week keeping my blog focused to weight loss...for the most part...so today, I get to let my hair down and let all the rest of stuff happening in my life flow on to the page.  Enjoy!!

BIG NEWS!!!  Butter is being discharged from the hospital today!!  I spoke to his therapist last night, and she and the doctor both believe Butter's ready.  He was taken off the medicine they were trying out a week ago - because they were starting to see some mood swings rear their ugly heads.  This week, without the medicine, he's been doing much better.  He's going to continue on the two medicines he was on -which are very low doses.  They are extremely happy with the progress that he's made the past two months - as am I - and they both think he's ready to be home with the family and conquer the world of public school.  YAHOO!!

I've started my Christmas shopping.  Can you believe it?  It's very slow moving..and will be up until the Christmas Eve, probably... but it has officially been kicked off.  I have mixed emotions about the whole thing.  My organized, scheduled, crazy self is usually done with my Christmas shopping by now...because I just like to be prepared.  This year, things have had to be done differently...with the funds being as low as they are I'm having to really stretch out the mula...but it will happen.

On the subject of Christmas...it's November 4th and I haven't seen a single house with Christmas lights up yet.  This makes me happy.  Not sure if you remember or not, but last year - I was NOT happy about driving around the first night of November to see a half dozen houses already lit up like the North Pole.  I know I'm probably jinxing myself - and I'm sure to see one house tonight while I'm driving around.  Don't ask me why this one thing bothers me so much, but it does.  Christmas lights up two months in advance is a bit too much.  I understand if you want to beat the cold and get them up early... but there's no reason to turn on the switch - yet.

Let's discuss Halloween a little, shall we?  I am a firm believer that you're never too old to Trick or Treat.  HOWEVER, if you're going to knock on my door and you're at least 16...put in a little effort, m'kay? - OK, so it wasn't my door, it was my friend's door...no one comes to my house to Trick or Treat.  Showing up with you school clothes on is not a costume.  You don't have to go buy a costume, but at least use a little imagination.

OH, and don't even get me started on some of the costumes I saw.  Maybe I should take back what I just said about costumes.  I kid you not...but I saw a girl, no more than 15, dressed up in a lingerie bodice, thigh high fish nets, suspenders (on her thigh highs), and two painted hand prints on her boobs.  Let's not forget the 6" heels she was wearing.  What's worse?  She was alone with another friend...no more than 15 herself.  I can't make this stuff up.  Come on parents...have some class with what you let your kids wear.  I understand that Halloween is a day that you can let your imagination run wild - and dress up however you like - but really?  Letting a teen walk around in lingerie and underwear is ridiculous!!

Show of hands - who thinks Kim Kardashian faked her whole wedding for money?  Now, show of hands of people who really give a rat's behind?  Yeah - didn't think so.  I'm so sick of hearing about it.  I'm sick of hearing about her...and let's throw Justin Bieber in to the mix.  Is he the father?  Isn't he the father?  Who really gives a damn?  I will admit, though, I'll be sad to hear that the story is true - if it is.  I don't care AT ALL for the Biebs...but my Peanut sure does.  It's hard enough scanning the people my children can look up to...and it's definitely not you Kim K.... but the 17 year old boy that my oldest daughter adores?  Too much to deal with!!

OK, that is all for today.  I've ran the gas tank dry for one day.  Wow, I realized I sound like quite the Negative Nelly today...sorry about that.  I didn't mean to, but have I mentioned that I'm a Mad Woman?  Once I get going - there's no stopping me.  I'm really in a good mood today...honest.  I think today is going to be a great day...there...ending on a positive note.

Everyone have a great Friday!!

Till next time. ;)

Fill 'Er Up Friday!!

T.G.I.F!!!  Am I right??

Man, I love my job...but I sure do need a break this weekend.  It's been a crazy week...so it's only fitting to end the week with some more crazy.  For you, guys, anyway.  It's my weekly installment of Fill 'Er Up Friday...where I bombard you with random information about me and anything else I find interesting.

So, I just got to start with a sensitive topic of discussion going on in my house right now...the threat that DirecTV is going to pull the plug on Fox Network starting Nov. 1st.  Have you heard about this?  When Hubby told me last night, I almost flipped the flip out.  Most of the shows I love are on Fox!!  I was hot, but Hubby was fuming.  Sons of Anarchy is on FX...and it's Hubby's favorite show.  Well, after some investigating...I'm on the fence.  If Fox is really trying to get DirecTV to charge their customers 40% more for the same channels...I say Good Riddance, Fox!  This poor girl can't afford an increase like that....to keep the exact same channels I already have.  I'll miss watching my shows on my 42" TV, but I'll just watch them online.  However, I make a plea to DirecTV and Fox both to just get along, and work it out....I want to watch House, Bones, Kitchen Nightmares, and X-Factor from the comfort of my living room..thank you very much!!

Peanut made it through the first round of try-outs for Quiz Bowl.  I was excited for her...until I found out when they have to practice.  Thursday and Friday evenings from 3-4:30.  Really?  Now I can add yet another thing to my already packed schedule of after-school activities.  YAY!! *insert sarcasm*  Thankfully, it's only for a couple of weeks.
I still have no idea when trick or treating is around my neck of the woods.  I hate Halloween being on a Monday.  I just think there should be some kind of bill passed that no matter what day Halloween falls on, trick or treating will be done the Saturday closest.  Think I should write a letter to my state representative?  I'm sure it's an important topic...you know...right up there with copy right laws and stuff like that.

There's no update as to when Butter may be coming home.  He had a few issues this week, that the counselor thinks may be a side effect of the medicine.  They're not sure what to do about it, either.  They can take him off the new medicine - which without it, he gets a little hyper and impulsive.  With the medicine, it causes some mood swings, and he's acted a little angry.  In my opinion, hyperactivity is a little more easy to deal with than anger.  I'm no doctor, but I don't want the same problems to start happening to Butter that happened on the last medicine.  I'm just so happy that he's surrounded by counselors, doctors, and nurses that are constantly monitoring him...and are willing to make the necessary changes.  His disorders - combined together - are just so hard to treat.  I am keeping full faith, however, that they will find the best way to treat him.

Jelly is going to be a cupcake for Halloween.  She gets to take her costume with her to preschool today - and she will get to go trick or treating at a local event.  She's excited about this, however she's a little nervous.  She thinks that someone may want to eat her.  You can't blame her though, right?  She lives in a house where she's seen her mother devour cupcakes without leaving a crumb.  It just goes to show the mental effects that overeating can have on a child.

I officially hate going in to my closet on Jeans Day.  It's depressing to see the three pairs of jeans that I could be wearing, if I hadn't of gained 20lbs in the last six months.  I'm now down to one pair of jeans that fit me.  That sucks big rabbit balls.  I have so many cute clothes in my closet that fit me a few months ago - and now I'm trying with all my might to wiggle in to the last few pairs of pants that I can still get over my hips.  I still refuse to buy bigger clothes. It ain't happening!!  It's either shape up or go naked.  Believe me, there's not anyone on this earth that wants to see this person walk around naked.  Oh the devastation and destruction that could start.  So, even though I keep saying it.... I really have to start doing something, FAST!!

It has recently occurred to me that I think my obsession with Facebook has officially come to an end.  It's only taken about 3 years... but I'm over it.  I still glance at the goings-on of everyone else... but my own status messages are all few and far between.  I'm not sure why the love affair has ended...maybe I'm satisfied with just sharing my life with you guys - right here.  I don't know... but if you are my friend on Facebook, and don't see much from me...that's the reason.

OK, I think that's enough for one day.  Everyone have a fantabulous Friday!!

Till next time. ;)

Fill 'Er Up Friday!

This has been a week full of ups and downs....and the week isn't even over yet.

It's time to do this week's edition of Fill 'Er Up Friday...where I pump you full of all the random tidbits of stuff that's been going on with me all week...and wrapping up any loose ends you may be wondering about.

I'll start with Butter.  After a very emotional meeting yesterday afternoon, it was officially decided that Butter will come out of the hospital and go into the elementary I'm working in.  He'll go in to a regular classroom.  After weighing the options, and basically moving around in circles - we all decided that Butter needs a chance.  As my principle said it best "we're gonna roll the dice and see what happens".  She believes he deserves a chance at proving himself - and the principle, assistant principle, and school counselor assured me that they will work with me to provide Butter the best care and support possible to help him succeed.

I am ecstatic - and nervous.  Of course I want Butter with me...but I know that it's going to be a tough transition for him.  I also believe that, from what I've witnessed since getting my job, is that Butter will have the best education, support, teachers, and administration to help him succeed.  I truly believe if he can't thrive there - then he won't thrive anywhere.

I'm getting me some exercise today... by way of playing in a staff kickball game.  I haven't played kickball since I was in middle school...so it should be interesting.  Two teams made up of staff will battle it out - in front of the all the kiddos.  It's going to be a lot of fun, I'm sure.  And I'm counting it towards my exercise minutes...I don't care what anyone says.  Me running around a softball field is exercise!!

There will officially be no camping this weekend.  I'm bummed about it - and so are my kids.  There will be cleaning, and running, and visiting my parents.

I'm officially sick of the state my house is in.  After all the sorting and getting rid of stuff last weekend - my house still looks like a disaster zone.  If anyone showed up at my house unannounced..I'd curl up and hide under one of the piles of crap that lines the hallway.  Don't let PETA know, but the dust bunnies in my house are going to receive a slow, painful demise.

Yesterday was payday.  While most people get excited about that particular day...I don't share that enthusiasm.  It just reminds me that there are bills to pay...and as fast as I receive the money, it's gone.  It also reminds me how much I love my job...cause I don't know how I'd make it if I didn't.

I've decided that the fighting and arguing that takes place between Peanut and Jelly is far worse than it ever was between Peanut and Butter.  Holy Mother of Hades those two girls know how to go at it!!  Can someone please remind Peanut that Jelly is only 3...and her sole job is to play with toys and want attention from her 11 year old sister?  While you're at it - please remind Jelly that she is only 3, and making snarky comments and demanding her 11 year old sister to be her slave just isn't appropriate.  That kind of behavior isn't allowed until she's like...16!!

Aunt Flo is in town, and she came bringing along a pounding headache last night.  I hate her.  She's a pain in my rear end.  I'm bloated and cranky.  Is it too much to ask that one time she visits that she brings cookies? Healthy cookies, of course.  How about instead of a pounding headache, it was pound cake?  I wouldn't even mind if she just showed up and sat around for 5 days without saying a word.  That would make me happy.  But no, she's always got to bring some form of pain, and water weight.  I don't mean to sound ungrateful, Aunt Flo - but your gifts SUCK!!

I have to make a quick exit this morning...I've got bills to pay.  UGH!!

Everyone have a great Friday.  Enjoy yourself!! Do something a little wild and crazy today...it's so good for you!!

Till next time. ;)

Fill 'Er Up Friday

I haven't done this in a few weeks... but with so much stuff going on I feel it's only right to cram it all together in one post I like to call Fill 'Er Up Friday.

First, let's start with the goings on of my family....

My prediction about going to Exile Island was right....off I go.  However, I didn't expect my whole team to be sent.  Team Bronze (my team) had the lowest percentage of weight loss this week...so the entire team has to move on over to Exile.  I was sure to pack my flip flops and sun screen.

Peanut starts her new school on Monday.  It took a whole 30 minutes to get her enrolled into the middle school she'll be attending.  The staff were super sweet and supportive, and I could tell straight away...she's going to be much happier there.  Peanut is super excited...although I think she'll be a little scared on Monday.  I'm gonna be a good Momma and take her on her first day.

Butter is not getting out of the hospital today.  I'm really bummed about it - and I know that he was expecting it.  His counselor thinks another week should be enough...they're just watching a few things that came up this week.  They're not sure if it was caused by his excitement of thinking he was getting out, or something else.  They want to be sure before they let him go.

Next week, I'm having a conference with the principal, assistant principle, and Butter's counselor to make the after care arrangements for Butter.  We're going to determine if he's ready to go straight into a regular classroom, or if he needs a little transition first.  That will mean going in to an inclusive classroom.  Either way, I know Butter will get the support he needs...and he'll be happy about it.  To him, all that is important is that he never returns to our local school district - and he gets to be with me.  I can grant both of those wishes.

OK, now for some other random stuff....

Today, for work, I'm dressed up like a female Steve Urkel.  It's Nerd Day at school.  It has dawned on me that not a single one of my students will get who I'm dressed up as....because they're all probably too young to even know who Steve Urkel is.  It's sad to think that a show I loved to watch in the 90's was a hit before all these kids were even born.  What does that say about all of you that loved the Brady Bunch? I kid, I kid.  Not really.

Anyone watch Harry's Law?  This week's episode started quite the debate in my house.  It was on cyber bullying - and a girl was being charged with homicide because her nasty blog posts led to the suicide of a teenager.  While I think that charging a 17 year old with homicide for writing a blog is a little harsh - I stood on the side of the debate where there should be some consequences for people that write hateful, nasty things about people on blogs or Facebook...or any other place that the entire world can read.  I'm curious to see what you guys think.  What type of punishment should a person get (if any) for cyber bullying?

Everyone hear that Wal-Mart is bringing layaway back for Christmas this year?  Don't get all excited...it's a crock of crap.  In my opinion, anyway.  They're only letting you put electronic items and toys on layaway...and each item has to be over $15, the entire amount has to be more than $50, and you have to pay a $5 service fee.  Being the Mother of the Year that I am - this doesn't help at all.  I buy my kids cool stuff like clothes, and they might get one or two toys over $15.  Hey, I'm a woman on a very tight budget!!  I used to use layaway every year....to be able to make payments AND because it gave me somewhere to hide the loot until Christmas.  I think I'll just have to do what I did last year....buy one item a week, and find my own hiding places.

I just realized that Peanut will probably read this post and be shocked and horrified to see that I'm the person buying Christmas presents.  Well, Peanut:  Santa is having a hard time this year with the economy and over population.  He's asked for volunteers to help.  You know that I volunteer for everything - so I thought I'd help the old guy out.  I'm sure he's still going to make a stop at our house and fill your stocking and maybe leave you a thing or too...don't worry!!

Holy Job Gods - I sure hope I get a teaching job next year so that I can get the spirit of Christmas back again.  Worrying about buying presents this year gives me the heeby geebies.  It appears, this year - Santa found a job at Capital One.  *Sigh*

To the person that came up with the idea of mixing pretzels, Chex cereal, marshmallows, candy corn, M&Ms, and peanuts together:  I think you are the Devil!!  Just Saying.

Wearing Capri jeans, t-shirt tucked in, and suspenders is not a flattering look.... yet another reason why I have to lose some serious weight.  If I want to pull off crazy looks like this - for the sake of the students to laugh at me - I want to feel good about it.  Not once did I ever comment on Steve Urkel's physique...except when he wasn't Urkel but his normal self... Jaleel White is hot!!  He never worried about a muffin top or back boobs.  Holy flying goat balls...Am I really this worried about looking this fat in Nerd get-up?

OK, time to get ready for work.  I've still got to try and get my short hair into pigtails.  The things I do for my students... Oh, and I just realized that I have to go straight from work to pick up Butter.  Now I have to decide if I want to keep the Nerd garb on to pick him up...or make myself look a little more normal.

TGIF!! Everyone have a great Friday!!

Till next time. ;)

Fill 'Er Up Friday....Some Random Babblings To Prepare You For The Weekend

I made an attempt two Fridays ago to start a new feature on my blog:  Fill 'Er Up Friday.  I liked it.  So I'm doing it again.  It's just a post full of random nuggets of my thoughts and goings on.....which isn't much different from every other day here - but Friday is a day it gets a special title.

When it comes to road rage, I have my fair share of saying not so nice things to idiot drivers from the comfort of my car.  I don't, however, do anything that I would consider dangerous or stupid in order to make my point.  I just want to shout out a nice F U to the person who thought it appropriate to lay on their horn and then ride my bumper for a mile....just because I thought I'd be nice and let a person merge in to traffic from a turning lane.  Is this what the world is coming to now?  I can't be a courteous driver without ticking someone off?

I earned a Mommy of the Year award last night!!  I spent 3 hours finishing up Butter's bedroom ready for him to come home for the weekend.  It's now clean, organized, and it smells fantastic.  Please don't think of the fact that it's taken me 4 weeks to get off my behind and finish it....let me bask in the glory of it being done.. m'kay?

I applaud Facebook for their attempt at trying to compromise the unhappiness people showed with all of their new changes.  I now have the option back to see the recent stories.  If you want to the news feed to go back to the way it used to be - go to Account Settings and then Notifications.  Uncheck the box that asks if you want daily emails sent instead of individual emails.  Then go back to the news feed and click on those little blue triangles in the corner of your top few comments (you'll see a message pop up saying that stories like that will no longer be placed in your top stories feed).  Once that's done, the recent stories feed will come back.  You're welcome!!

While I'm on the Facebook topic, I would also like to point out that I'm fully aware that Facebook is a free service - that I don't have to use if I don't want to.  I do, however, still have the right of free speech - and the right to voice my opinion about changes I don't like.  It appears my bitching, along with thousands of others who shared the same concerns, was heard.  Facebook made some more changes to try and appease the situation.  I think constructive criticism is good to share.  Sending me ignorant messages how I shouldn't be complaining about a "free service" is not good to share.  That is all.

Today is the first day of Fall.  This makes me happy.  I'm ready for cooler weather, fall colors, and the beginning of the holiday season.... except for the fact that Christmas is coming a little too fast, and I'm broke, and I now have to come up with an amazing story to tell my kids as to why Santa is being stingy this year.  I'm thinking it's time to bring out the talk on the economy - and how Santa is dealing with some hard times.

I've made the executive decision that Oikos Greek yogurt is so much better than Chobani.  I understand that this blasphemous statement may cause a few huffs of disagreement...but I can live with that.  For the past several months, Chobani has been a staple to my daily diet.  Then, Oikos came out with a new fruit on the bottom version - and I decided to try it.  It's oh so creamy, has more fruit than Chobani, and costs less.  Sorry, die hard Chobani fans - but this fan is switching teams.

Alright, my brain has ran out of random nuggets of information to share this morning.  Time to get ready for work.  If you have a nugget to share with me - please post in the comments section.  Just share whatever's on your mind... maybe it's a rant, maybe it's a product suggestion, maybe it's just a random piece of juicy gossip... I'm always open to anything.

T.G.I.F.!!!

Till next time. ;)
